Frozen Bucket 'o beer....

4/365, originally uploaded by McGillicutty1.

OK peeps, here's the deal. My hubby is a lazy bastard... yes he is and for those of you reading who happen to be family, y'all know it so stop acting all offended.

We had some friends over for New Years Eve and as is customary the world over, the men folk hang out away from the women folk and drink beer... on this occasion it was by the fire pit in the back yard. He has a tin bucket that he uses at such times to ice down the beer. So, the night was a huge success, we all had fun, everyone went home and we went to bed. I cleaned house the next day and asked that he deal with the back porch.... yeah... remember that it's taken him three years to paint the outside of the house... well it's taken him... is still taking him more than a week to clean up the back porch. Seeing as we're having the coldest snap in History right now, Mr Lazy Ass thinks it's ok to just leave the remaining beers out there because they're still cold. He just bumbles on out there of an evening to grab himself a cold one from under the layer of ice that has formed over the beers.

Nice.

We may as well get an old, nasty couch and stick it out there.

It did present itself as a good picture for my 365 project which is going on over on Flickr, so all is not lost, although the value of our property and that of everyone around us has dropped about 63%. I had some positive feedback on the picture and no one was rude enough to say... wtf are you doing with a bucket o' beer frozen on the back porch???? which is what I probably would have said.

Anyhoooo.... the whole point of my story is that the one thing jumping out and hitting me square between the mince pies (cockney rhyming slang for eyes) is that Syd is only 8 and already her hands are so beautiful, this picture highlights her long elegant fingers and lovely skin tone....and that is all this pic says to me... "you have a beautiful daughter, right down to her pretty little thumb nails."

One of the benefits of having a wife, is that the man can be lazy.

Why get up and get a beer, when all we got to do is say-"Hey Honey, bring me a beer!"

..less complaining, and more service, please! God, I just love being a man...

I thought her fingers looked blue since you were making her hold all that ice!

haha just kidding. She actually does have really nice hands. I'm kinda jealous. Mine look like monkey fingers.

ps- all men are lazy bastards. I'm just sayin!

I agree, she has lovely hands. And a bucket o beer on the porch just says to me "These people know how to live!"

Being a lazy bastard myself, I can relate to your husband's stategy of keeping the beer on the porch. Before we bought an extra 'fridge, winter was my favorite time of the year, because I could just stock beer in the garage and it would stay very, very cold. Couldn't store it outside here, though, as it would freeze over.

(so don't think of him as lazy, but rather thrifty--he's not asking to buy a beer 'fridge, is he?)

yes but at least the beer is cold. that's the most important part. and if you were to put a couch out there then one could relax next to the bucket of beer!

Well I guess the beer is definitely cold and on ice. Good idea to put the couch out there, they you would have another great picture of a frozen hubs with his frozen beer.

What is all this fuss about? Beer is very important and must be looked after properly. You were once a brewmaster's sister-in-law so you should understand that.

Steve... OMG you outed me on my own blog!!! I'll never be able to beer bash again. :(
