OK... like the new colors??? is this easier on the eyes??? hope so.
Now then down to business... how freakin' hard is it to be beautiful in this day and age? There are so many unbelievable things we females, and actually males, have to do to be presentable... even in the areas we never present.
Take the toes for example.. they're locked away in socks, shoes and boots all winter, however, if you happen to be single and have a "sleep over" with a new bloke, or even an old bloke, you want your tootsies to look their alluring best. If you happen to live in an unpredictable climate like I do there may be the odd occasion mid winter when you are forced to wear flip flops and the whole county will see your toe nails.
Hair... I mean c'mon people.. wtf.. we have to pay a million bucks a cut and color and then it grows out!! then just before the next appointment... lo and behold it's lookin' great again... then you go get it cut anyway 'cos it's time... and it stinks for three weeks 'til it gets all happy with itself again.
Then there's make up... my God almighty... I will not be seen outside of my own four walls without makeup.. no it's just not happening... I hate myself without a slathering of at least two inches of makeup. But once again there's a problem... we have lived in this neighborhood for five years.. yes five glorious years... we love the people around us and they love us (I assume/hope) but after five years of the same neighbors there comes a time when they will just knock on your door and ask a random question. So this leads to the morning ritual of getting up an hour earlier to make sure you're showered and dressed before anyone in their right mind would even think of popping over to borrow a bowl of sugar.
I'd love to cover the intracases (i think thats a word) of hair removal.... but I just don't have time and honestly I'm not the best one to comment..... I'm actually very fair haired and this means I can get away with not shaving for a long. long, long ass time. I'm experimenting at the moment with my legs. I last shaved on Christmas Eve, I know this because the in laws were on their way and I managed to hack off most of the lower part of my left calf with the razor.... yep... scene from Dexter is all I could think of. So I applied and reapplied band aids....again and again until the blood spatter analyst gave the all clear for me to face company. So I haven't shaved since, and with the cold weather we've been experiencing my woollie legs have been under cover and so no one gives a shit... now my woollie legs are not like your woollie legs.. they are a lot less hairier than the average five year old. I'll let you know when I do actually decide to shave again, it's like going for some kind of world record.
So my dears, my conclusion is this... if we were meant to look as fabby as we think we're supposed to look we'd have one of two things... a shorter work week... so we can take care of business or more hours in the freakin' day so we can still work, take care of our families and look like a mill bucks while we're doing it.

Corner View.. Repurposed items in your house.. or something like that...
OK today's Corner View is something about repurposed items.... this seems to be a buzz word on HGTV and home improvement shows in general. I don't know about you but it seems like everything has a million and one uses and if I was the genius who came up with the whole "repurposed" thingy I'd be kicking myself in the ass for not patenting that word.... if you can patent a word that is... maybe make it a trademark? I don't know.... but you get my drift right...and I am drifting... I know... it's 5.27am and I am trying so hard to get this out there on the right day so cut me some slack!!! not a morning person people... you should know that by now.
OK so my first repurposed item is this..................
We took a hot young sailor and a vivacious cutie full of life...and made them into a couple who would conquer the world.... they traveled together and experienced the thrill of young love... hot to globe trot you might say!
and we turned them into this....
A luke warm couple of old farts.... only trotting in the months that have an R in them... wait a minute.. this is February.. there may well be 2 trots this month... of course.. my birthday and Valentines day!!! Looks like this couple have had some good times and been rode hard and hung up wet a time or two!!!!
My second repurposed item is this little beauty.............
yes once again I started out with hot young sailor... very good looking and athletic... and turned him into none other than Laundry Man!!!!! Yes ladies you too can make yourself a laundry man... all it takes is a few weeks of constant nagging and withholding of essentials... you know what I mean, don't act shy!!! Conveniently "forget" to wash HIS pile of stinky clothes in the corner, after a couple of days going commando due to a lack of clean undies.... your loving man will pick up some clothes and take them to the laundry room, place them in the washer and if you're a real talented nagger like me... he may even be coaxed into getting them into the dryer. Now don't go too far with this... he's not going to be able to take them out and fold them in the first couple of months... and it's going to be a very long time before he'll actually get the clothes from the laundry room to the bedroom and we're still working on the hanging in the closet thingy... but folks after twelve years of nagging I'm just happy to report we're making progress!!!!!!!!!!
Now for other Corner Views and repurposed items, head on over to Jane at Spain Daily....check them all out.. it's fun!!!! Besos darlings.

Little Miss Relay for Life of Thomas County
No I haven't gone all toddlers in tiara's on you!!! I actually really detest beauty pageants
myself to be perfectly honest.
However, when there's a little girl who so wants to be Little Miss Relay for Life,
and that little girl is my daughter, I'm gonna move heaven and earth to do what I can
for her, and here's why.
Two years ago now, my beautiful, sweet girls whom I totally adore and would
protect from anything, witnessed something that most adults would find
horrific and frightening. Their Grandpa died suddenly in our house while he
and my mother were babysitting, my husband and I were both at work.
Syd was six at the time and managed to help my mother (who suffers from Parkinson's)
call the ambulance and call me at work to come home. I was only five minutes from
home but that drive still plays out in my head and feels like it took forever.
When I got home the girls were both frightened, knowing something terrible had
happened, Grandpa was curled up in the bathroom and had suffered some
kind of ruptured artery in his throat, we knew he was on borrowed time
having suffered for about 18 months with cancer of the thyroid which then
became cancer of the esophagus; even in the advanced stages of this terrible illness
he insisted that he make this trip across the Pond to see his beloved
grandchildren one last time!
So after some counceling and some seriously difficult conversations since that time,
Syd has made it her ambition to become Miss Relay for Life, this is her way of dealing with the
horrible reality of cancer and helping others who are struggling with it.
Relay for Life holds pageants and fundraisers all over the country. Last year
Sydney entered but sadly didn't place in any category, of course I thought she was
just gorgeous!!! I also think I didn't get the point across well that her mission was not
to be a Beauty Queen but to work hard at the real meaning of being Miss Relay for Life.
Syd wants to help other kids, she wants to raise money towards a cure, she wants
to represent the American Cancer Society. I was heartbroken to see her stand there
and not win one single category, she cried when I went back stage to get her and I
felt so helpless. I swore we wouldn't do it again.
Well, Syd is a tougher gal than her Mama that's for sure. She's dusted herself
off and held her head high and is determined to be a winner this year.
Here's where you come in. Yes You!!!! The aim of the pageant is to raise
money for the American Cancer Society. One of the categories that she can win
is the Relay for Life Champion, this crown goes to the little girl who raises the
most money prior to the pageant. We only have about four weeks in which to
do this, so no procrastinating!!! There's a button at the top of my blog which
you just click to donate.. easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Send me your hard earned cash. Send Syd notes of encouragement, pray
for my sanity and her bravery, pray for the kids who will all have a common
goal that evening... and most of all pray for an end to Cancer.
If you prefer to send a donation directly to Syd then please email
me and I'll get you the address. Thank you from us both, Thank You!!!

And Now for More Randomonium!!!!!
Regular readers will know that I am not a very consistent person...
I like to do my little Randomonium posts because it accomplishes
two things... gets shit off my chest.. and illustrates the madness that is
Mid Life Motherhood.
I don't do them on a regular day.. of course not.. that would totally defeat
the randomness... duh!!!!
This weeks ramdomonium starts with the whole thing about my bad luck
with insurance claims!!! As soon as I went to work for an insurance agent
I had to make a claim on my home owners policy, then on my auto policy,
then again a year later on my homeowners.... and this week.. guess what???
Husband backed my beloved Jeep into a pole.
Dammit all.
Next up.... snake hips McGilly Jr!!!. As illustrated in this pic, my youngest
princess has a total lack of success in the "keeping up your drawers" dept!
I have tried several different styles and sizes of jeans on her this week and
still there's a problem of her crack attack!!! roll on the summer when she'll wear the
the heck outta some little dresses!!!!
Back to my love of all things Travolta.... have you ever actually met anyone with
that last name other than the great man himself???
We watched The Taking of Pelham 123 the other night and I was soooo enthralled.
It was great, he's a fantastic baddie... can't wait for his next movie coming out
on Friday, which just happens to be my birthday, I believe he purposely
talked the studio into releasing it on my B-day because he loves me back!!!
Shhhh don't tell Kelly... or McGorgeousness.
The little ladies in my life just found a dead centipede outside... they're having
some kind of ceremony for it. Thoughtful!! weird.. but thoughtful.
Earlier this week I took the dogs to the vets because they were scratching like
maniacs and disturbing my sleep. I thought they had some skin irritation or
whatever so I dumped them at the vets and told them I wanted a complete
overhaul of these damn dogs and a good grooming.
Mr McG went to pick them up because I was on my deathbed suffering from a
mysterious bug. He said he felt like a total ass 'cos they told him that Mac was
choc full o' fleas and Daisy had a huge anal abscess...sorry if you are
snacking while you're reading this... GAG!!!
I still find it hard to believe about the fleas, although since they treated him,
the scratching has stopped. I have not seen one flea anywhere and believe me
I am a total freak about that kind of thing!!! It's mind boggling.
and finally... I am somewhat flippant.. OK totally blind to the feelings of
others sometimes!! Seems that lately my dry sense of humor hasn't been
very well received by some people... or in some cases... I have totally
put my foot in my mouth and completely offended those within earshot.
Here's my rebuttle... get out of earshot!!
and finally, finally, the guys are BS'ing around the fire pit.. I wish you could smell
it... I love the smell of burning wood!!!! so cozy!!!

Busy, busy, busy....
Snapshot of a busy week.....
In the wonderful world of Junior Service League, this is our busiest time
of year... BARGAIN BAZAAR.
We fill a massive warehouse with wonderful and wacky donated items and
then have a big party on Friday night so people can come and eat, drink,
be entertained and shop.
In my little corner of the world, I have been juggling BB week and
soccer, hubby being out of town, working full time, having some crazy weird
bug thing that had me thinking I was dying (I know), a freaky visit to the vets for
both dogs and ushering at the local Cultural Center...oh and I still found time
to purchase the cutest and I mean CUTEST fuschia sweater.
So this would not have been a good week to be out of crazy pills... glad I wasn't.
Syd learned a Swedish dance at school, apparently in the days of yore they
had the peasants and the "no abilities"... I said what?? "yes Mama, the peasants
and the no abilities"... I think you mean Nobility darling... but at least now we
no where the word came from.. thanks for breaking it down Syd.
So if I haven't commented on blogs or replied to emails this week I have a good
excuse.. I plan to be back to my slackerish ways in the real world next week.. taking
Monday off!!! yes ...taking it off from life!!! I'll be the one in the corner in a vegetative
state all damn day... YAY me!!!!
As for Blogapalooza... I have had a great response and will be contacting those
interested shortly... and Kimi if you're reading.. I would love a button.. just
saying...thanks.. I really heart you!!! really!!! thanks again!!!
I wish I had a shell to hide in.

Corner View...Sweets.
This weeks Corner View theme is Sweets.. um yeah... this one is kinda
tricky for me, you see sweets are the devil... they taste awesome and make you
all satisfied and gooey feeling.. then they stick to you for years and years
making your hips as wide as a house and your chins multiply.
So I don't really very often do sweets.
The girls like cookies now and again, I'm not a big baker, I make some
pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas. My weakness is ice cream...
I do like a lovely yummy bowl of ice cream now and again.
Takes me back to my child hood when we used to go to a cafe in a little
beach town and order me a Knickerbocker Glory!!!!
Yes folks this is a good old fashioned Knickerbocker Glory and when you're about
five years old this is HEAVEN in a big fancy glass!!!
So that's my take on sweets....it's not exactly my Corner View here in the States but I feel
it's still my little Corner View from my inner five year old.
No hop on over to Spain Daily and check out the other Corner Views...
I know they'll all be coming up with something fabulous this week!!!
