Corner View... Autumn

I am sooo happy it's Autumn this week on Corner View. 

I have been able to get out and take some pictures in this glorious weather

we've been having here in South GA. 

Our corner of the world is so beautiful at this time of year, October 

is usually so hospitable with bright skies and mild temperatures.

The mist in the morning is a fantastic sight and it warms

up to sunny afternoons... Yum!!!!

In five, four, three, two...one... cue Corner View!!!!

OK so I'm like a week or so late, the other more reliable CVers have already posted one CV post for the season and me being the eternal slacker, well you know how it goes.  It's all part of my passive aggressiveness, a symptom of PA is consistent lateness in order to disrupt things.

This weeks theme is SEVEN.  Seems easy enough.. only it was not.. 'cos I left it to the last minute .. again.. and hastily snapped this shot of seven mints at my office this afternoon. I totally couldn't stand the thought of not posting so this is what I came up with... lame I know. Promise to do better in future.

Corner View...Noticing...

I'm noticing every minute of every day just how gorgeous summer is... 

and how hot!!!!

Today's theme is Bliss... Bliss..... Bliss.... the first thing that came to mind was chocolate.. of course... then wine... then chocolate and wine... and so it went on. I took some time to really think about what it means to have a moment of bliss, could it be when my girls hold my hand, when my husband brings me coffee in bed and lets me sleep late or is it the smell of spearmint and eucalyptus that I love so much. It's really all about the senses, all about a feeling that you get from a familiar scent or taste or touch.

One thing that's really blissful to me is a peaceful afternoon, one in which I can relax and pause for reflection, or dose on the couch with the fan on above me just brushing a light breeze across me and humming quietly, lulling me off into a gentle little nap.

Oh yes now that's bliss.... a nap on the couch in the afternoon... uninterupted bliss!!!

Corner View... Architecture

This weeks Corner View theme is Architecture and I'm wishing I was in Europe for this one... seriously... no offense South GA, but seeing Jane's pictures makes me want to travel!!!!

In this corner of the world there's an abundance of what I like to call practical, not necessarily beautiful, buildings. I really didn't know what "anytown USA' meant until I saw that any town you go, there are the exact same retailers and restaurants and they all look the same. However, in my little town at least we have a beautiful downtown which looks and feels great, Saturdays were made for strolling around Downtown Thomasville GA.

Corner View... front door.

This weeks theme was "front door"... well ... here's mine... 

note the lovely poinsettias... no they're not still up... 

I'm a lazy woman and remembered this picture was taken at Christmas and 

so I don't have to get up and take another one!!!! 

really need to do something about the ugly hanger though!!!

I'm a bad Corner Viewer!!!! forgive me..

Let me just get that out of the way, the past two weeks I have failed in 

posting a CV post, and this is the most favorite of my projects! boo hoo! 

Yesterday, yes, yesterday the theme was Street Photography.... so I'm a little late and I 

didn't take these recently but these are what I picked out to share!! Hope you likey!!

 The first is a shot of one of the beautiful streets in St Augustine, Fl. One of my most

favorite places to go.. you can tell this wasn't taken recently cos there are no parkas 

and woolly hats in sight!!! 

This is the post office in a tiny little South GA town... and that about makes up one

quarter of the downtown area 'scuse the mirror in the shot, I snapped, I downloaded,

I shared... very raw and real!! hahaha

Another tiny street in St Augustine but being a true touristy geek I snapped this

one because obviously I felt an immense sense of National Pride!!! 

And finally, another one I think I have shared before but never ceases to tickle me, 

only in St Augie can you see a pirate just casually strutting down the street!!! 

So these are my streets, i will stretch this out a little and take some of downtown

T-ville cos it's such a beautiful town, I'll post them sometime soon.

Corner View...Sweets.

This weeks Corner View theme is Sweets.. um yeah... this one is kinda 

tricky for me, you see sweets are the devil... they taste awesome and make you 

all satisfied and gooey feeling.. then they stick to you for years and years 

making your hips as wide as a house and your chins multiply. 

So I don't really very often do sweets. 

The girls like cookies now and again, I'm not a big baker, I make some 

pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas. My weakness is ice cream... 

I do like a lovely yummy bowl of ice cream now and again. 

Takes me back to my child hood when we used to go to a cafe in a little

beach town and order me a Knickerbocker Glory!!!!

Yes folks this is a good old fashioned Knickerbocker Glory and when you're about 

five years old this is HEAVEN in a big fancy glass!!!

So that's my take on sweets....it's not exactly my Corner View here in the States but I feel 

it's still my little Corner View from my inner five year old.

Corner View... Personal Style.

Corner View is back after a short hiatus (some Jane's and some mine)

This weeks theme is personal style, hmmm, that's always tricky to define...

I love it when I get something and a friends says oh that's so you!!

What in the world does that really mean? But I guess it's a compliment and

means it's something that says who I am.

I have gone through many phases of fashion that's for sure, and I

still find it hard to adjust to the American way of dressing, even after

twelve and a half years... I never wear sneakers with jeans... Oh NO!!!!

I like a mish mash of stuff, sometimes I'm big bold print and

other's I'm all about the black and white.

Lately I love jeans and plain black shirts with big jewelry!!

Here's a snippet of my wild and disastrously unorganized closet...

yes it would be fab if everything were hanging on wooden hangers and

organized by color!!! but it's not!!!!

These, my little beauties, are my latest love!!!

I think these are about the best example of my personal style ever.

*sigh*

I love them more than blogging!!!!

Corner View... Favorite Dish. (I'm cheating)

This weeks Corner View theme is favorite dish, you can post a pic of what you like to eat, or a dish you like to eat from or serve from, I guess a soap dish if you want to.

Well, in true McGilly style, I'm stretching this one to suit myself, but I think you'll enjoy it anyway.

Last Saturday I volunteered to go to Mule Day in Calvary GA to sell cookbook for the Junior Service League, that's where the link ends... dish... cookbooks... get it???? I had been told this was some kind of artsy crafty big kinda horse/mule show thingy and I'd be able to take the kids and make it a day out, and that they usually have about 60 thousand people there... ok... 60 thousand people are not flocking to South GA to look at mules... or are they????

We set out in what we thought was good time to make the trip, as we get closer to the Mule Grounds the traffic begins to slow down and then stop... people start walking past the truck in the direction of the "thing", we were still a good ways off. Surely to God we're not parking here and walking????? Hell no... hell yeah!!!

Then as we got closer to the "thing" it gradually opened out before my eyes and the only work to describe my feelings was GOBSMACKED!!!!! What in the wide wide world of Sports do we have here???? The annual coming out of every country boy and girl on the planet.... and we had to find our little booth, among ten thousand booths... of course we couldn't call the our girl because we were in the BOONIES and there's no cell phone reception!!!!!!!!!!

Lookie here, if you can make this out you'll see that the tents go on for miles way over the horizon... and after the tents are the mules (apparently) I certainly didn't make it that far.

OK here's the lady with the Shih Tzu in the stroller... nice.... there were lots of shih tzu's there... hmmm must rethink my love of shitties... they're apparently all too popular with people who turn out for Mule Day.

OK we found the booth and here we are, my good friends and I fearlessly rockin' the Mule Day and selling the crap out of some cook books... as you can see matching shirts and sunglasses were the disguise of the day, didn't want anyone to recognize us... my shirt was red but still has the JSL logo on it.. you just can't see it in this pic!!! not that that matters... just sayin'.. I wasn't being a total rebel.

So to sum up... we drove a long way, we walked a long way, and then the kids rode a short way in circles...

Ashley is always dressed and ready for any occasion, she's a true Southern Belle.

Then we all held hands and went home to some super chili waiting for us in the crock pot... which again links back to my favorite dish!!!!!
