Time for some Randomonium!!!!!

OK... it's been a while since I have done the Randomonium post...quite frankly
'cos I haven't been feeling too random... things have been planned and
precise and there hasn't been too much frivolity.
Which is a shame at this time of year but I'm starting to find that being a mother
and in charge of the military operation that is "the freakin' holidays" I'm
left with a feeling of definite frivolity-deficiency.
Honestly.....I'll be glad when this is all over and I can say Happy Effin'
New Year, Baby!!! bring it!!!!

His gorgeousness has been on the search for my Christmas gift, he is not
one to surprise me, there's no walking into a jewelers, dropping a
months salary and surprising the bejesus outta me. No... but there is always a
story about some ridiculous moron of a sales clerk.... and this year is
no exception. He's aware of my long time desire to own a Bamboo Craft
or Fun or whatever as long as it's Bamboo and comes with PS Elements.
True to Mr McGilli's nature he has to research the goods and his catchphrase
when shopping is.. "what makes this one better than that...etc". so he hopped online
today and saw that said items are on the Office Depot website, knowing there was
an Office Depot close to where he was working today he thought he'd stop by
and see the product, talk to a knowledgeable human being and make an
informed decision. Not so. When he got to the store he wandered around a
little but was unable to find anything Bamboo so he asked the sales clerk who gave
a blank stare and then looked at the manager as if to say, what the eff is he on
about? the manager, ever so helpful, told the clerk to look it up on the web,
find the item number and see if they have any in stock. OK, sounds reasonable.
Hubs had to guide the search after the clerk said in monotone.. "so what'ma lookin' fir?"
He then found the item and she looked it up, and it said they have none in stock,
he's familiar with retail stock software and took a look at it himself.. he said there
was some kind of code there that read 12-1-86.. maybe a default code to say
there was not one in the store. The clerk clearly understood the code and then
quite confidently announced that they hadn't stocked that item since 1986!!!!
He laughed and simply asked if the store was even there in 1986, to which she
adamantly replied it sure was, just not in that particular location!!
He so badly wanted to tell her that no one even had a freakin' laptop in 1986 never
mind a Bamboo Craft/Fun/Tablet and that she was totally full o' shit...
but he's polite so he just shrugged and told her he was sure he'd find it at Best Buy.
Ummm let's just hope he does, time is running out buster!!!!!

It's been a shitty kind of a day/week/month/year around here and in response
to all the stress and strife I decided tonight I would treat myself to a cocktail to
ease the pain and help me relax. Well there was too much Jack for one drink and not
enough for two, I poured it into one small glass, realized it was too much, so I
poured it into a bigger glass and filled it with Coke Zero (of course) Syd came in to see
what I was doing. I told her I was just getting myself a little Christmas Cheer.
"You need it" she bluntly informed me... thanks kid... then I tasted it
and made a face... she told me "I guess Cheer doesn't taste too good!".
Hmmmm!!!!!

In other news...not too down with the new layout of FB, you???
the one thing I hate is that it shows the comment that you leave on other people's
walls.... I know it's out there but I kinda don't want it to be out there...
ya know??? I just don't know why it's bothering me but it is, have been
spending more time on Twitter which was hard to deal with at first
but I'm getting a handle on it. Also the pics on the top of the deal
are all the ugly ones I don't want peeps to see right off the bat.
another thing that makes you go Hmmmmm!!!

Glad to see my BFF Bambi is back in the blogosphere...kinda.. she's been sorely missed!!!
and I'm dispensing with the Christmas Memoirs... just can't be bothered.
Love and Hugs... Moi!!!

And Now for More Randomonium!!!!!

it's been a while so here we go....

I need a Randomonium Button, I will use some of the time I have on my
hands to see if I can make one, if it doesn't turn out I'll be calling on some of my
more techno savvy bloggy pals for help.

HELP!!!
:o)

His gorgeousness and I challenged each other to an IQ test tonight, we sat at opposite
ends of the kitchen table with our laptops and took the test simultaneously with
Syd adjudicating.... the results were SHOCKING!!! I must have been severely
distracted in this setting because he managed to score a whole two points more than me.
So? what of it? big whoop not a big deal! i hear you cry.
Apparently these particular two points place him in genius status and me merely in superior
intelligence... am I hearing the end of it???.... not yet!!!!

The best part was that He and Syd were cleaning the kitchen after dinner and he
was giving her a hard time about fitting the dishes in the dishwasher... she then jibed
"well sorry I can't be the genius that you are!!".  LMAO!!!

School starts Monday.. where the hell did Summer go???
oh yeah...it's still freakin' here!!!
Temps in the 100's and everything. This makes for
a very hot sticky beginning to the school year... good luck teachers.
Both my kids are more than excited......I keep hearing them saying "I love school"
let's hope this enthusiasm keeps up well into Middle school and beyond.
Syd is excited that she has bright parents and thinks it makes her doubly bright!

Last night the kids went to a spend the night party and we didn't... whoah Nelly
... I'm not about to share all that.... we stayed home and had dinner and a movie.
We got Sherlock Holmes from Netflix (did I mention I love Netflix)
and I have to say I was very, very impressed!!! Add it to your list now.
Maybe I can lure Netflix into sponsoring my blog....just sayin'.

I have been on a mission to rid myself of all the clutter in my life. Oprah keeps
appearing in my dreams telling me to keep it simple, live an uncomplicated life and write
my own checks. Does she really do that? If I had her beau coups of cash I'd
print my checks on Big Huge Labs or something using pretty fonts and backgrounds and
make them huge like the ones they give Lottery winners. So, having said that I'm
systematically ridding myself of all the chains holding me back, shredding stuff I
think the fraudsters around here might steal, giving away the stuff that someone more needy
might need, recycling the cardboard, plastic and glass we just don't need!!!
Can you say Liberating!!!!

Has Twitter changed??? I have been tweeting for about a year now and never really
paid a lot of attention until the other night. There were a bunch o' peeps suggested to me
so I followed them all... prolly you... and you and you... there blurking... so please check
me out, you can follow me from the sidebar, see it??? click it. thanks.

and my final piece of randomonium for tonight is this... did you know I adore giraffes?
and I took this picture... I know... really I did...and I do... absolutely adore them, look at that
big beautiful eye, so kind and soulful... ~*~sigh~*~

Y'all have a good rest of the weekend now and come back and see me y'hear!!!

Randomonium Prevails....

Whenever I feel kinda adrift (I think that's the best way to describe it) I do a
Randomonium post and it all makes sense again... so here goes...

I think I've mentioned the goings on at Chez McGilli lately, the improvements
are tremendous and I'm noticing not only does it look better around here it feels
better. There's a kind of flow, a niceness, just a thing..I don't know but i'm
liking it whatever it is.

The girls will have their birthdays soon, how quickly time flies when
you can see them growing right in front of your eyes. They never cease to
amaze me though... the other day this happened... Ash blew bubbles......
and Syd said "if bubbles were alive they'd run away from you"!!!!
I laughed.

Syd has adopted a new tactic when dealing with a telling off, she stares at me with
attitude all over her face. She watches a lot of animal planet and I'm guessing she's
going with the whole whoever looks away first thing is the loser...well I'm bigger,
older and your Mama, I'll always be alpha dog in this house!!!

I'm really starting to stink at the photo a day project (and pretty much stink on the blog
lately too). It seems there's just not enough things to take fantastic pictures of every day
without them becoming forced and boring. Unlike the one above, that is the
type of thing I'm looking for in a picture and it just doesn't happen every day.
I wish I was better.

The best thing happened to me the other day, I was as per usual trying to find
a groomer who would take the dogs NOW. I never plan ahead so therefore
they are always booked. One vet's office gave us the number of a new place in
town and they had a spot... so I took the dogs there only to discover it was
the chick who grooms them at the other pooch parlor and she's gone out on her
own... I'm pumped!!!! She has a fresh, new funky salon (or whatever you call it) and
I already know she's good, and she's cheaper... Booyah!!!!

Finally, the weather here is gorgeous and I could sit out back with a glass of
wine every minute of the day and night... but alas I have laundry to attend
to... laundry, wine out back, laundry, wine out back, laundry, wine
out back.... where did I leave that cork screw????

And Now for More Randomonium!!!!!

Regular readers will know that I am not a very consistent person...
I like to do my little Randomonium posts because it accomplishes
two things... gets shit off my chest.. and illustrates the madness that is
Mid Life Motherhood.

I don't do them on a regular day.. of course not.. that would totally defeat
the randomness... duh!!!!

This weeks ramdomonium starts with the whole thing about my bad luck
with insurance claims!!! As soon as I went to work for an insurance agent
I had to make a claim on my home owners policy, then on my auto policy,
then again a year later on my homeowners.... and this week.. guess what???
Husband backed my beloved Jeep into a pole.
Dammit all.

Next up.... snake hips McGilly Jr!!!. As illustrated in this pic, my youngest
princess has a total lack of success in the "keeping up your drawers" dept!
I have tried several different styles and sizes of jeans on her this week and
still there's a problem of her crack attack!!! roll on the summer when she'll wear the
the heck outta some little dresses!!!!

Back to my love of all things Travolta.... have you ever actually met anyone with
that last name other than the great man himself???
We watched The Taking of Pelham 123 the other night and I was soooo enthralled.
It was great, he's a fantastic baddie... can't wait for his next movie coming out
on Friday, which just happens to be my birthday, I believe he purposely
talked the studio into releasing it on my B-day because he loves me back!!!
Shhhh don't tell Kelly... or McGorgeousness.

The little ladies in my life just found a dead centipede outside... they're having
some kind of ceremony for it. Thoughtful!! weird.. but thoughtful.

Earlier this week I took the dogs to the vets because they were scratching like
maniacs and disturbing my sleep. I thought they had some skin irritation or
whatever so I dumped them at the vets and told them I wanted a complete
overhaul of these damn dogs and a good grooming.
Mr McG went to pick them up because I was on my deathbed suffering from a
mysterious bug. He said he felt like a total ass 'cos they told him that Mac was
choc full o' fleas and Daisy had a huge anal abscess...sorry if you are
snacking while you're reading this... GAG!!!
I still find it hard to believe about the fleas, although since they treated him,
the scratching has stopped. I have not seen one flea anywhere and believe me
I am a total freak about that kind of thing!!! It's mind boggling.

and finally... I am somewhat flippant.. OK totally blind to the feelings of
others sometimes!! Seems that lately my dry sense of humor hasn't been
very well received by some people... or in some cases... I have totally
put my foot in my mouth and completely offended those within earshot.
Here's my rebuttle... get out of earshot!!

and finally, finally, the guys are BS'ing around the fire pit.. I wish you could smell
it... I love the smell of burning wood!!!! so cozy!!!
